Rudraksha — Sacred Seeds
Tears of Lord Shiva — powerful spiritual and healing beads
Rudraksha (रुद्राक्ष) = Rudra (Shiva) + Aksha (eyes/tears). Legend says Lord Shiva meditated for thousands of years for the welfare of all beings, and upon opening his eyes, tears of compassion fell to earth, becoming the Rudraksha tree. The beads are the seeds of Elaeocarpus ganitrus, primarily from Nepal and Indonesia.
Significance of Rudraksha
Rudraksha beads have been worn by sages, yogis, and seekers for thousands of years. Modern research confirms their electromagnetic properties — they create a specific resistance that regulates bioelectric currents in the body. Each bead has natural lines (mukhis/faces) on its surface, and the number of mukhis determines its properties and ruling deity. Authentic Rudraksha from Nepal (larger, higher altitude) is considered more powerful than Indonesian (smaller, lower altitude).

How to Wear Rudraksha
Energizing (Pran Pratishtha): Before first wearing, soak in water overnight, then wash with milk. Chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times while holding the bead. Wear on a Monday or during Maha Shivaratri for maximum effect.
Thread: Silk thread (best), gold, silver, or copper wire. Avoid iron or artificial materials.
Mala: 108+1 beads is traditional. The +1 (Sumeru/Bindu) bead should never be crossed during japa — reverse direction at Sumeru.
Placement: Wear close to skin. Necklace (touches heart), wrist bracelet, or arm band. 5 Mukhi mala on neck, specific mukhis as pendant or ring.
Who Can Wear: Anyone regardless of gender, age, caste, or religion. No restrictions. Even children can wear 5 Mukhi.
Can Be Worn 24/7: Yes — while sleeping, bathing, working. Remove only for attending funerals or visiting cremation grounds. Some traditions remove during intimacy.

Care & Authentication
Care: Oil with mustard or olive oil monthly to prevent drying and cracking. Wash with water periodically. Replace thread every 6-12 months. Store in clean pooja area when not wearing.
Authentication Tests:
• Water Test: Genuine Rudraksha sinks in water (most do, but this alone is not conclusive).
• Copper Coin Test: Place between two copper coins — genuine bead will rotate slightly due to electromagnetic properties.
• Visual Test: Natural mukhis (lines) run from top to bottom. Artificial ones have uniform/perfect lines. Natural beads are never perfectly symmetrical.
• Cut Test (destructive): Cut open — genuine Rudraksha has as many internal compartments as external mukhis.
Where to Buy: Reputable sellers with lab certification. Nepal beads (larger, more defined mukhis) are premium. Indonesian beads are smaller but still effective. Avoid marketplace bargains — fakes are extremely common for higher mukhis.
