Dincharya — Daily Routine

The Ayurvedic daily routine for optimal health and longevity
Dincharya (दिनचर्या) = Din (day) + Charya (routine/conduct). Ayurveda considers a consistent daily routine as the single most powerful tool for health. Each time of day is governed by a specific dosha: 6-10 AM/PM = Kapha, 10 AM-2 PM/AM = Pitta, 2-6 PM/AM = Vata. Aligning your activities with these natural rhythms creates effortless health.

Night Routine (6:00 PM — 10:00 PM — Kapha Time)

TimePracticeDetails
7:00-7:30Dinner (Light)Eat LIGHT — soups, khichdi, dal-roti. Dinner should be 1/3 of lunch volume. Finish 2-3 hours before sleep.

9:00-9:30Night CareWarm milk with turmeric (optional). Foot massage with ghee or oil. Nasya (nasal oil drops).
9:30-10:00SleepSleep by 10 PM — before Pitta time (10 PM-2 AM) which activates body for repair/detox. Left side sleeping aids digestion.
Critical: 10 PM — 2 AM is Pitta time for INTERNAL use — liver detox, tissue repair, hormone production. If you're awake during this time, Pitta energy goes toward hunger and mental activity instead of healing. This is why late nights cause aging and disease.
